The Story Behind Jim Needham Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Drain & Electrical
People often ask, “Is Jim Needham a real person?” And the answer is: yes, very real. I’m Jim Needham, and this company is my family’s story.
We opened our doors in November of 2019 as Jim Needham Plumbing, with just one truck, a whole lot of heart, and no days off. It was me and my son Jimmy, side by side, seven days a week, running calls out of that single truck. That truck actually came from Jimmy’s previous plumbing company; he had started something of his own, and we decided to buy him out and go all in together as a family.
My wife, Debbie, was the backbone of the company from day one. She did it all-answering phones, booking jobs, handling customer concerns, HR, payroll-you name it. We worked 12 to 14 hour days without a day off for seven straight months. It wasn’t easy. But we were committed. We knew if it were easy, everyone would be doing it.
After just three months, we earned enough trust and business to buy a second truck. That allowed us to each run solo calls, continuing to serve customers with care and honesty. And people felt that. They saw how genuine we were, and they appreciated how much we truly cared. That’s why we started receiving the best reviews in town; the way we treated people mattered, and our customers noticed.
Our daughter Crystal was living in Virginia at the time, and her husband Ben was deployed with the Air Force. While homeschooling five boys during COVID, attending nursing school, and holding everything down at home, she still found time to help her mom book calls for our company. I still don’t know how she did it all, but I’ll always be grateful. Her sacrifice was a big part of our survival during those early days.
As we grew, we brought in people who shared our vision. We trained them not just in skills but in empathy and integrity. We built a culture of honesty, hard work, and heart. Because somewhere along the way, the service industry lost that personal touch. We wanted to bring it back. We wanted to be the company that truly cared.
Fast forward to today-we’ve just wrapped up our fifth year in business. We’re no longer just plumbing. We now proudly offer heating, cooling, drains, and electrical services, too. We’ve built a team of the best professionals in the industry. We’ve created a culture where people love what they do, and it shows in the way they serve our customers every single day.
I named the company after myself not for ego, but because I wanted to stand behind it with everything I am. When you hear Jim Needham Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Drain & Electrical, I want you to know there’s a real person, a real family, and a real team behind that name-people who care deeply about doing things right.
Our dream is to become Denver’s premier home service company, and we’re well on our way. We’ve built something special here, and I’m forever grateful-for my family, for our team, and for the customers who have trusted us from the start.
